Hello, Again! Fall Shows & Frieze London
It’s time I put pen to paper and compose a brand new blog entry (apologies folks, it has been a while!) The global art world is abuzz with a flurry of shows and fairs ripe for viewing. With the sunny, warm summer days behind us, fall breathes new life into the art calendar as we approach the final stretch of 2018. Here are my top picks of artists to watch in the coming months:
Marela Zacarias @ Sapar Contemporary, New York City
These days, any three dimensional art commands my full attention! Sapar Contemporary in New York is constantly on my radar for cutting edge works and they haven’t disappointed with their fall show “ A Street of Many Corners”. Featuring wall sculptures by fabulous Mexican/American artist, Marela Zacarias, these delectable, perfect parcels of bold colours are hypnotizing. Blending both painterly perfection and sophisticated textures into one, her sculptures appear to be floating within their environments – they are the ideal abstract pieces for large boardrooms and open concept dining rooms alike, inviting guests to be absorbed in the folds and mastery of materials. These painstakingly, labour intensive works are true gems to behold!

Sara Cwynar @ Frieze, London - Cooper Cole Gallery
Frieze Week is nearly upon as London opens its door to the best collectors and admirers of art! Should you get caught up in the Frieze frenzy, The New York Times’ Farah Neyardi calms heads by outlining other non-fair shows around the city...phew, thanks!
One of my favourite artists, Canadian Sara Cwynar will be showing at Frieze with Cooper Cole. Using borrowed images, magazine clippings and photos, Cwynar composes new images from her collages. Every inch is curated with elements of femininity, acting out a narrative that viewers are compelled to see. Her photo-based art is innovative, with nodes to both the past and present that make her art everlasting and endlessly invigorating.
Enjoy fall show and fair season!
